Anger Management for Youth
Anger Management for Youth Services targets children and adolescents 13-17 who are having difficulty managing their anger at home, in school, and/or in other social settings. The curriculum focuses on the “ABCD” method of anger management. Call for more information.
Emergency Shelter for Children Experiencing Abuse and Neglect
The mission of CHILD, Inc.’s Governor Terry Children’s Center is to reduce the possibility, incidence, or reoccurrence of child abuse or neglect by providing an emergency home, food, clothing and age-appropriate counseling to children, ages nine through seventeen years. CHILD, Inc. currently operates the Governor Terry Children’s Center. These children are in the care of the State of Delaware, Division of Family Services. The Home is a 10-bed, 30-day stay for residents.
Specialized Foster Care
CHILD, Inc.’s Specialized Foster Care Program is contracted with the Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families to provide foster family placement for youth, males and females, ages 8 to 18. These youth have experienced recent or past abuse and/or neglect at the hands of parents, guardians, or caregivers.
Children/Youth Who Witness Domestic Violence within the Family
The Helping Children Heal program serves children age 4 to 18 who been exposed to intimate partner abuse in their homes as well as their families and caregivers. Treatment focuses on safety planning, working through feelings related to the violence, and developing skills to break the intergenerational cycle of violence. Services include individual, sibling, and family counseling, using traditional talk therapy as well as play therapy. Parent sessions are held to assess progress, provide ongoing education regarding the impact of intimate partner violence on children, and teach partnering skills.

24 Hour Runaway Hotline and Runaway and Homeless Youth Counseling
The goals of the Runaway and Homeless Youth Program is to improve family functioning and reduce out-of-home placements.
The Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) Project of CHILD, Inc. operates a 24-Hour Runaway Hotline that serves as a vital link between runaways, their families, and CHILD, Inc. counseling services. The Project provides free individual and family counseling, a temporary emergency home, and related services to runaway and homeless youth and families experiencing stress.
Kids Place
In 2014, CHILD, inc. opened an additional location within the Sparrow Run community called Kids Place.
Kids Place provides educational and recreational activities and programs to children and youth residing in the community of Sparrow Run.
All youth residing in the Sparrow Run community are eligible to join.
Children First Counseling Services
Children First offers counseling and Mediation services for families dealing with divorce, separation, custody and visitation issues. Helping parents and other caregivers focus on the best interest of the child.
